SAILS publishes study reports on personal laws in Bangladesh
The South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (SAILS) has published three study reports on personal laws in Bangladesh; those are on the personal laws of Muslim, Hindu and Christian.
These studies, undertaken with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dhaka, were part of a project called Combating Gender Injustices (CGI). The studies were formally released at a launching ceremony held at SAILS’ conference room in Dhaka on Tuesday (10 April 2012).

Round-table on “International Law Issues and Bangladesh” held
Eminent Jurist Dr. Kamal Hossain has said that the success of international law depends on the collaborative approaches and practices by different states. He underscored the need for consensuses among states for the realization of individuals’ rights under international law.
Acclaiming the recent victory of Bangladesh over Myanmar on maritime disputes, he also termed it as a contribution and success of international law.

SAILS hosts seminar to mark Human Rights Day 2011
Regional human rights mechanism for South Asia underscored
Presenters and discussants at a seminar have underlined the need for a regional mechanism in South Asia for better promotion and protection of human rights.
They recommended for setting up a South Asian Human Rights Commission alongside strengthening the National Human Rights Institutes (NHRIs) in respective countries.
Dr. Kamal Hossain is addressing the seminar.
They also recommended to include provision facilitating regional human rights mechanism in the SAARC Charter.

Valedictory Session of ADR training
Chief Justice underlines streamlining ADR system
Mr. Justice Md. Muzammel Hossain, Honourable Chief Justice of Bangladesh has said that there is a need to streamlining the system of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) given the huge backlog of cases and to ensure justice for the people.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session of a week-long training on ADR on 22 July 2011, jointly organized by the South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (SAILS), The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution, Los Angeles, and JATI of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
